A Message for 2013 J/30 North American Championship Competitors

2013 J/30 North American Competitors,

Important - please forward this message to your crew!

This is the sixth in a series of messages that will be sent to help you prepare for the 2013 J/30 North American Championship ready to race and have fun.

Here’s update #6 to help you get ready and check in for the J/30 North Americans.

Parking: Parking for all J/30 North American competitors will be at Stanley's Boatyard, immediately next door to the Barrington Yacht Club.  There is very limited parking at the Barrington YC that has been reduced by the extra tent setup to support the J/30 North American social functions.  If you do not have a Barrington YC decal, you may not park in the club lot.   Stanley's boatyard has agreed to make their parking available at no cost for the duration of the J/30 NAs.

Check-in for the Event: The official check-in will be at the registration table in the "Williams Room" at the Barrington YC.  The skipper will proceed to this table and pick up the skipper bag that contains all meal tickets, crew t-shirts, printed race documents, and the check lists used for the registration process.  All crew members must check in at this table to be weighed and sign the liability waiver.  If there are any crew members who will be arriving after the designated check-in time of 9am to 5pm Thursday, please let the registrar know so that an individual weigh-in may be arranged.

Measurement: Please make sure that all the items needed on the measurement checklist are openly displayed on the berths so the measurement crew may quickly complete the inspection.  For boats that need sails measured, please bring personnel to unfold and fold the sails for measurement.  The measurement team will not be folding sails.  Sail measurement will be facilitated by placing the sail over pre-measured tape markings on the club floor to check required measurement parameters.

Cruising Gear Storage: Boats that arrive from out of area may store their delivery sails and related gear at Stanley's Boatyard next door to Barrington YC.

Showers and Changing Facilities: There are showers and changing rooms available at the Barrington YC and at Stanley's boatyard.  These are provided at no cost to the J/30 North American competitors.

Launch Service: Barrington YC runs a launch between the hours of 8am to 9pm.  The club launch may be hailed on VHF channel 68.

Dock Space at Barrington YC: Dock space at Barrington YC is very limited and should be used for transient pickups and fueling only.  Please be courteous to others since there are many J/30s and Barrington YC members who will be using the dock during the J/30 NAs.

Lunches: If you plan to order box lunches, please do so by noon Weds 24 July with either of the sandwich shops listed on the NA website.  Box lunches will be delivered to the club each day by 9am and will be available for pickup in the "Williams Room" where the registration table is for check-in.  Remember you have the option to purchase sandwiches / box lunches that will be delivered to Barrington YC, or can make your own with information on two conveniently located grocery stores.  If you order lunches, you will pre-pay the sandwich shop using your credit card.

Sunday Evening Food: For those who may wish to stay for Sunday dinner, starting 4pm Sunday food may be ordered and paid for at the Barrington YC bar, with meals prepared at the Tyler Point Grill across the street from Barrington YC.  These meals are delivered to Barrington YC.  For more details stop by the Barrington YC bar.

Barrington YC Information: The Barrington YC phone number is 401.245.1181.  Additional Barrington YC information is available on the 2013 J/30 North American website on the Logistics page.  All J/30 North American competitors are guests of the Barrington YC for the duration of the event.  This means that you have full use of all facilities at the Barrington YC except for the pool and parking, both due to limited space.  The Barrington YC has a liquor license and must comply with local ordinances which include:

Alcohol: All alcohol consumed on the premises of Barrington YC must be served by the club.  You may consume your own alcoholic beverages on your boat at the moorings, but may not consume beverages that were not served by the club on the premises.  Alcohol may not be consumed on the club launch.

Smoking: Barrington YC is a smoke free institution.  There is no smoking allowed on the premises.

Custom Weather Forecasts: Our official sponsor Weather Routing Inc. will be providing custom weather forecast for the duration of the regatta at no cost.  The logo at the top of the 2013 J/30 NA website will take you to the custom weather forecast site during the regatta.  This link is also provided below.
