Spinnaker Problem

There is a tragic story attached to this article. "Donzo" Wilkinson from the Mumm 30 "One More Time" was killed when he was hit in the head by the boom on a gybe.

preliminary id indicated that the Showdown was a J29 ... but the photo shows double spreaders.

I can't believe that while this was going on they got the jenny neatly off the deck. although the main looks well secured.

Showdown doesn't have data on the J29 owners site other than to indicate it is a west coast boat.

Oh OK ... look at the 2nd and 3rd photos of newstory ... looks like a big white blob on the beach off the bow. That must be the Genny.

But I'm still puzzled at the reported crew of 10.
