Bill was on board last week and ran though the list of J30s in NB who don't race ... Probably mostly because of the hassle with keeping a decent crew for spin racing ... the non racers well outnumber the boats that race.
I know how long it takes to change anything related to OD J30 racing ... But how about during 3 days of an NA WL crew testing ... we actually consider one everyone-in distance race with two classes: J30 OD spin and J30 "whatever" non spin ... with one start for both. I'm thinking Sat. so everyone can be at the banquet that night.
I think it is sad that we cut out most of the J30s with this obsession that an NA Has to be WL and Has to be all out Spin OD for three days.
It's time we had an annual event that makes some attempt to bring together as many boats and J30 addicts as we can get.
We are getting near classic boat status for J30s ... let's recognize everyone in the annual event.
This sounds great to me! I'm in the process of buying a new (to me) J/30 and am undetermined whether I'll be racing spin or non-spin. The option would be welcome.

Not next year, but for the 40th or 50th anniversary NA's I might trailer my boat to the event if there were 2 starts. Heck, for the 35th if it's in Chicago.
