I found a trailer nearby that is for sale. It currently has a busted up Seidelmann 25 on it.

I havent seen the trailer in person yet (going next weekend), but I'm trying to determine how I can figure out if it will carry the J/30. Of course I will try to determine axle capacity when I look (the guy doesnt know), but I'm wondering what you guys think.

Some facts:

-the guy says the axles can be adjusted fore and aft to balance the trailer
-it looks like the uprights might be adjusted inboard/outboard to accommodate wider (will confirm)
-the Seidelmann weighs 4600 lbs and is 9.5' wide

Beyond weight - are there some measurements I can take to make sure the trailer will work?

Other thoughts?

Thanks - Dan

Dan - is it a custom trailer or a brand name? If a brand name, perhaps you could contact the manufacturer. They may have info to tell you right away if it supports a J/30.

ps - nice looking keel joint on that Siedelman....

That was my first angle.

The guy says/thinks it is home-made, or at least he does not see a brand name placard anywhere on it (of course, this is something I will look for...).

Try to find out what the axles are rated at and also what the tires are rated at. Tires/wheels can always be upgraded. So can axles for that matter.
