So OK Vee Jay still waiting for some snowbird crew, but did the Marco Isl YC Fall 2010 last weekend. Our mastman, out with a separated shoulder from overzealous bike riding, and our port trimmer out because she had a Moot Court program to do ... whatever that is. Those two are married ... but they sent a sub down to help ... 6'5" 225, good shape, no keelboat or spin experience. The last three videos are short clips of "training" Dave as a port trimmer ... while racing shorthanded. duh... too bad he was just visiting here for the week.

Four boats in Spin B, 7 total in the spin starts. Races complicated by 5 tris: a F31 and 4 F24s who managed to catch us a few times at the windward marks even though they started 6 min later.

This first video is ~5 min, longer than I would like but shows how these tris can do a job on us. The F31 coming toward us is sailing SSE with the mark to the west. He must have seen some wind shift out there no one else did. The boat to our right is Foreign Exchange a Dehler34 that is our consistantly closest rival. The F24 at the mark managed to help move the mark a bit in our favor ... but not enough. Nothing like a multihull trying to tack in extremely light wind with a bit of current against it, actually think they used the mark to help them tack.
