My jib sheets are getting a bit long in the tooth. Anybody happen to know what sort of line they're using?

Dennis - we like 7/16" New England Ropes Sta-Set (not Sta-Set X). It's good on the hands, doesn't twist or hockle, and is low stretch. You can use the smaller 3/8" too, but the 7/16" is easier for the someone tailing to hold on to. It's also very reasonably priced when compared to some of the high tech lines. I've found good deals online and at Hall Spars sales.

I think you can afford to go with lower tech on the jib sheets than you can elsewhere because when you are trimmed, you never have more than about ten feet of line under load so the total stretch is less than a spinnaker sheet or halyard. Assuming 1.8% stretch, that is ~2 inches under 50% load (which you would never see on a jib sheet). In normal sailing trim, I bet the stretch on Sta-Set is inperceptable.

I was eyeing the New England Salsa Line for jib sheets. Looks easy on the hands.
