Gulf Coast (Ken Buhler) - 9 boats active on Lake Ponchartrain. Recent regattas held / planned include Leukemia Cup, GOYC, Ocean Racing, Pensacola race. Discussion on holding Midwinters.
Western Great Lakes (Dell Todd) - Some pockets of J/30 distributed means most racing is PHRF. A 30 foot class comprised of J/30 and S2 9.1 provides race opportunities. A schedule of races is planned to include Chicago, Holland, Milwaukee, Muskegon.
Southeast District (Graeme Nichol) - Most the J/30s are cruising not racing. Two of four boats left the Jax area.

Carolinas (Randy Boyles) - Carolina boats distributed between the Lakes and the Coast - no real critical mass for J/30 OD racing. Randy is reaching out to communicate with J/30 owners.
Northern New England (Luke Buxton) - Meeting in April with 8 boats represented. Created a race schedule that includes both north shore and south shore of Mass Bay. Using NOOD in Marblehead as draw. Many boats racing PHRF. Want to coordinate with SNE for 2012 race in Buzzards Bay area.
Southern New England (Mark Rotsky) - Narragansett Bay OD active with 6 boats. Six races scheduled in OD format. Successful annual meeting in April with an open discussion on tech and maintenance issues. The 2013 North American organizing committee has been stood up.
Chesapeake (Ron Anderson) - 14 J/30s were on the line for the NOOD with Bebop taking the honors. Active Weds night OD racing out of Annapolis YC with 10 boats. 2011 NA preps well underway
J/30 Dues status - 60 people paid to date with increased participation up from last year
Class Association finance status - Carl Sherter emailed that we have approximately $7000 in the bank plus $2096.77 in the PayPal account. The NA trophy's have been ordered - bill is $1500.
2011 J/30 North American Planning Status - Scheduled 16-18 Sept at AYC. Measurement 14/15 Sept. Draft NOR should be done next week. AYC will host the regatta web site. Ron to send the link to Bill & Dave so the J/30 links can be updated. A discussion on loaner boat availability. Dave Erwin agreed to post a forum topic to determine what would incentivize people to provide loaner boats.
Chief Measurer report
Alternate Mast Supplier - Charlie recommended that JSI be approved as an alternate source for replacement masts. He will send the link to J/Boats so that they can provide approval. A discussion on the spreader angle resulted in Rod commenting that the spreaders when initially installed should be swept back 15 degrees.
The Rig-Rite jib box assembly was recommended as an approved alternate to the original design that is no longer made. Rod commented that the location of the head stay attachment should be in the same position on the mast. Measurements will be taken of existing masts to confirm the dimensions.
Charlie Stoddard to provide the final class rules wording for the changes above and post on the forum at least 30 days before the next BOG meeting so a formal vote can be taken.
Scheduling of next meeting at Annapolis YC on Thursday 15 Sept 2011 (NA Host Club) - Ron Anderson will provide a time and location so it can be coordinated with the NA scheduling.
New Business - Discusiions on the mainsail material were initiated by Dell Todd based on a forum post by Russ Atkinson. The following resulted from the discussion
Bill Kneller to post a poll in BOG forum open through the end of May. The poll will ask each district to vote on whether main sail material restrictions should be lifted with a specified minimum weight
Minimum weight of finished sails (less battens) should be obtained for existing dacron mains, and what sail makers would recommend for minimum weight of unrestricted materials. (Action by end of May Kneller - North, Stoddard - Quantum, Buxton - Doyle)
Charlie Stoddard to consolidate inputs and provide proposed wording for potential main sail cloth changes so a BOG vote can be taken in July. Any proposed changes would not take effect until just before the 2012 NAs
