The LNG Terminal fight (aka Weavers Cove Project) is officially dead!

This message just in from Save the Bay.

Hess Abandons LNG Project in Mount Hope Bay!

THANK YOU, members and allies of Save The Bay, for your steadfast support during the eight-year fight against the Hess LNG project. Today, Save The Bay welcomed the decision by Hess LNG / Weaver's Cove Energy to abandon its pursuit of a major liquid natural gas (LNG) terminal in Mount Hope Bay. (Read the press release.)

YOU make it possible for Save The Bay to achieve great results like this.

This victory is a credit to the more than 5,000 people who signed our petition and the hundreds who attended public hearings and made donations; the many local organizations that mobilized their communities; state officials and the congressional delegations of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and municipalities that challenged the project every step of way - especially the City of Fall River and the Town of Bristol. The work of protecting Narragansett Bay from threats like the LNG project takes time, resources and a dedicated professional staff. Thanks and congratulations to you all.

Now, let's return to the business of restoring the Taunton River and Mount Hope Bay. We appreciate your continued support.
