A question about one design compliance; Wildcat was t-boned in early august. Among other issues, the boat sustained damage to the anchor well (cracked) and the cover. The boat repair facility has recommended rebuilding the anchor well but with a slight modification. They recommend slightly lowering the fuel intake cap from where it currently sits. They say that the cover is hollowed out to make room the the fuel intake cap and they think the cover is too thin as a result. By lowering the cap in the anchor well, the cover can be made a uniform thickness.
It is my opinion that a new cover will not be lighter and thus should not be an issue but... I have to ask. Can the above mods be made and still have the boat considered one design legal?
PS. a few years ago, my cover for the propane tank needed to be replaced. I made a replacement out of hard wood. For one design is that OK?

Russ - personally I see no issue with what you propose, but the Class Measurer will have to make the official ruling.

Thanks Bill,
Didn't think it was a big deal but I'd hate to make a mod that turns out to create a problem down the road.
The propane tank cover weighs more than the original and the anchor cover will also weigh more when done. Doubt that anyone would care if I lowered the fuel intake cap but agian thought I'd ask
More important, does anyone see any functional problems with lowering the cap?

Russ

No problem makeing the changes just make sure that the actual fill cap is higher than the fiberglass so it doesn't become a water trap
