This has been a great year for the sport of sailing and the J/30 Class!

Over the next few days, Bill and I will be planning next year's goals. This is a good time to ask what everyone would like to see improve, new ventures, ideas etc...

Examples:
Host more regattas with Juniors aboard to develop the next generation of sailors. Teach our children how to sail.

Neighborhood sailing seminars. We need more sailors.

Policy on protesting, sportsmanship etc...

Annual awards and recognition of ideas and accomplishments.

Photo/Video contests.

We appreciate ALL ideas and thoughts. Please give some feedback.

A couple of ideas have been sent to Bill and myself:

"How To" Stories/Video/Photos of Deck Layouts, Tips and Tricks. We will focus on:

Racing Tips and Tricks
Cross sheeting
Launching the spinnaker from the front hatch J/24 style
Main sheet system
vang system (low tech)
deck layout
hiking pads and spectra life lines (now coast guard approved for offshore)
PHRF ideas
other ideas?

The other idea was related to "how To" articles based on some of the more popular topics in the forum.

I like the idea of this Evelyn 32-2 'owners map'. Might be interesting to see on the front page: Evelyn 32-2 owners map

Love the idea of a Junior sailing regatta! As an ex-Instructor and Coach in the CT ECSA programs, I know the kids would jump at this chance. This should not be an issue to organize for Long Island Sound. I would think the same for MA and RI with the stregth of their programs. The publicity for the class alone would be great. US Sailing will jump on anything right now that promotes Sailing and Youth involvement. The same is true for teh boating rags. Could be fun to hold regional events and then depending on participation, hold regatta for each regions champion team. Count me in to help organize for my region as well as the donation of my boat.
