A Message for 2013 J/30 North American Championship Competitors

2013 J/30 North American Competitors,

This is the first in a series of messages that will be sent to help you get ready for the 2013 J/30 North American Championship ready to race and have fun.  Here is a summary:

Final Payment Balance Due by 1 June: The final payment for your regatta registration must be postmarked no later than Saturday 1 June 2013 to preclude the $100 late registration fee, in accordance with the Notice of Race. You will need to complete the registration online at this link: http://j30.us/shop/. Payment options include pay by check (mailing directions on the website if you send a check) or pay by credit card / PayPal. If you pay by credit card or PayPal, we add a 3% convenience fee to cover the costs that PayPal charges for the transaction.  Those who entered their US Sailing Number in the pre-registration, and are current with their dues to US Sailing will receive a discount per the NOR.

Meal Information, Substitute Meals and Additional Meal Purchases: Your boat registration covers 7 meal tickets each for the Friday Barbeque and the Saturday Lobster Boil. You have the option to substitute steak in lieu of lobster for any of the 7 tickets by selecting a "no cost" substitute using the J/30 Shop.  You and your crew can also purchase additional tickets online for either the Friday or Saturday dinners. You must complete the meal substitution by June 30th and additional meal purchases by July 19th online at this link: http://j30.us/shop/.

Logistics and Regatta Information: The organizing committee has researched many items that should help your preparation for this event. Go to the regatta website if you have a question about where to stay, where to get food, services, etc. There is a menu at the top of the website that guides you to the various areas. If you have a question that isn't answered on the website, there are links with email addresses for the people assigned to cover various aspects of this event. Feel free to email the designated individual to get your questions answered. The regatta website is http://j30.us/na2013/

SWAG: Included in your skipper bag will be seven 2013 J/30 North American T-Shirts. You will need to indicate the sizes desired for your shirts no later than 30 June. You complete the T-Shirt size selection online at this link: http://j30.us/shop/. There will also be a link where you may purchase additional T-Shirts.

For this event we have selected Coral Reef Sailing Apparel (CRSA) to provide custom 2013 J/30 North American merchandise. They will take orders online and have custom orders ready when you arrive at the regatta. They will also sell custom merchandise on site at the regatta. CRSA will have a trailer with a full spectrum of name brand items you may purchase. The link will be available soon through the regatta website http://j30.us/na2013/

Loaner Boats Available!

The SNE district has four loaner boats committed for the 2013 North American Championship. There are two loaner boats that are available and have not yet been committed to anyone as of 21 May.

Out of town owners from anywhere... Take advantage of the opportunity to race at the J/30 NAs. Register at this link and include your loaner boat request when you register. Register before 1 June to avoid the $100 late registration fee.

A Message for 2013 J/30 North American Championship Competitors

2013 J/30 North American Competitors,

This is the second in a series of messages that will be sent to help you get you ready for the 2013 J/30 North American Championship ready to race and have fun.

Here's update #2 to help you get ready and check in for the J/30 North Americans.

Sailing Instructions: The SI has been posted on the J/30 North American Championship website under the Regatta Docs menu.  You can view this online, or download the PDF version for printing.  A copy of the SI will be provided in your skipper bag when you check in at the regatta.

Moorings / Dockage: I've received many questions regarding moorings and boat accommodations at BarringtonYacht Club. The arrangements for moorings provided by BYC on a complementary basis July 24th thru July 28th are made through the BYC club manager, Scott Nichols who may be reached via email scott@byc.necoxmail.com or via phone 401.245.1181 at the BYC club house. Call Scott if you need a mooring before or after those days to make arrangements. Dock space at BYC is reserved for the committee boats and transients. Just a reminder that the BYC monitors VHF 68 when you arrive via water.

Measurement: Charlie Stoddard will send out a separate email to everyone regarding scheduling for measurement. The plan is to have a team of measurers available in the BYC clubhouse with the floor marked with tape for critical dimensions to be checked. Once you arrive and check-in at the registration table, you'll be given the measurement checklist and proceed to the main club room with your sails. Charlie will also have multiple teams at the dock to measure boats simultaneously. He'll coordinate the boat scheduling when you bring your sails for measurement.

Food, Meals & Beverages: For planning purposes, here is what to expect. Thursday after the Skipper's meeting there will be snacks for the skippers and limited crew (not intended to be everyone). BYC will also have a cash bar open at the clubhouse. Fri, Sat & Sun morning we'll have complementary self service coffee, juice and bagels out for everyone. Daily box lunches and beverages are the responsibility of each boat. See Skipper's message #1 with info for obtaining box lunches. Fri & Sat for the BBQ and Lobster Boil. Sunday afternoon for the award ceremony there will be light snack platters (not a meal) and BYC will have a cash bar open at the clubhouse.

Registration Table Check-list: Finally for today's message, We've posted a registration checklist that will be used to help guide everyone through the registration and check in process. It is posted on the regatta web site http://j30.us/na2013/ under the "Regatta Docs" page. You can scroll down to read it online, or download the pdf file for printing at the link on the same page.

If anyone needs crew for the regatta, there is a guy from RYC looking for a ride. Experienced in many positions, knowledgeable, nimble, and pretty light weight.
