Hi all,

I recently bought a 1979 J30 in great shape, but the cabin table is missing. If someone could post some pictures showing the underside and some relevant dimesions would be very appreciated. I want to build one as close as the original.

Regards,

Alvaro

Welcome Alvaro! I believe you have the first post on the forum from South America. We have posts from Central America, Europe and North America now.

I'm sure someone will be able to follow up with your question on the cabin table.

do you have the table posts? that would be a consideration on how to construct. Basically a box sitting on two posts with two storage areas and two leaves attached with piano hinge. I found that taking off the starboard leaf worked ok.

Alvaro,

I pulled the table out from my basement storage to take some pictures and measurements. Here is a link to some basic dimensions. Let me know if there are any other dimensions you need. If you right click on any of the images, you can download the higher resolution photo.

This is a view of the table upside down, unfolded.

The center storage bins are shown, one with cover on, and the other with cover off.

This is a picture of a steel leaf support. The table legs are drilled so the steel supports can be inserted between the legs and rotate up to fit in block of wood mounted on the underside of the leaf to hold it up. .

So OK ... stumbled on this pin today that came from PO on hull 526 ... used to attach table legs instead of sliding post into bottom of boat. looks like someone turned a block of Poly something.

Hi Bill or anyone else,
I just purchased a J30 and it came with the table but it was never installed.
I have the same table as Bill. Could someone please post pictures of how they set it up in the bilge? Is it centered? Should I use metal or plastic tubes to put the table legs into (plastic I assume due to corrosion and other posts on this thread).

John,

I no longer own a J/30 so can't measure the table. I would definitely recommend an inert material to join the table tubes to the pipes in the hull. Turned Delrin or G10 would be good.
