That is an excellent counterpoint. If I had a freshly refurbed deck I would also not want to put a 4" hole where it may not be necessary. Perhaps ventilation can be had thru alternative means.

I don't feel that this should have any impact on the One Design equality aspects.

Have a productive call. I have a previously scheduled family commitment and cannot make the call. thanks.

Dave,
I'm not available for tonight's conference call. Perhaps a roll call of Governors prior to setting a date would be helpful in the future. I understand there is some urgency about this topic. Charlie need to finish up his deck job.

I have no problem with eliminating the forward vent. I do not think this well give anyone an advantage or will compromize our OD rules. My vent has the plug in it. I have not had the air scope in my vent in twenty years. If anything, filling the vent hole with solid epoxy may add more weight to an area where weight is critical.

I also understand the need for strict enforcement of our classes one design rules. Charlie has done an excellent job in this area since taking on the job as Class Measurer. He is in an awkward position and can't rule on the vent issue as Bob has pointed out. So I guess not good deed goes unpunished. Again, I'm in favor of allowing the vent to be deleted.
