Well the fibreglassing has not got easier after a few years of not fixing daughters 29er. Had to fix up a couple of small spots for stantions and what a mess but turning out alright. Still concerned about one hull spot but afraid if I cut it out I will create another ongoing repair blog and do not know if I can keep up with you guys! The pictures you guys post make it look easy!

you got rotting Balsa??? on a 29er??????

And why can't your daughter fix it herself?????

All gal sailors are supposed to know how to work with epoxy and make award winning beefstew.

If they can't sail ... well they always can cut pipe for new stanchions. This 20 in. piece for a short j24 post was $11.

Oh... wait ... NOT fixing the 29er ... must mean you are working on the 30 ... disregard above note.

here's a photo of the port forward leg of stern pulpit repair on a J24 we are working on. now backed up by piece of plywood ... with scooped out soft balsa about 2 in. further from the edge ... filed with glass and epoxy.
the j24s are same, same ... if not worse when it comes to the deck. I think over the years they would pop in fittings and take them off by whim and never really sealing the holes well.

There is nothing as helpful when working on a J30 deck as a nice coat of interdeck where you can pretty easily match the color.

next on the agenda will be to install whiteboard toe rails.
