Hi,

got the bowcleat of as well as the spinnakerpole-hook on the bow ( how do you call that thing?).
They could use a new coat of paint but I am afraid it will chip right off again.
any easy solutions?

Check with you local hardware store or automotive store. they make spray paint for aluminum. I used it on the end fittings on the boom. still looks good after three seasons. Use flat black as it hides some of the pitting better.

I've looked into this - I think another good option (and probably what was done originally if I had to guess) would be to clean them up really well and take them to a local metal fabricator, or metallurgy kind of place and have them powder coated. The fabricator my company uses said he could do it for me but I've not had a chance to deal with it.

I suspect that the original product was not painted but was anodized.
Check out the following web site.

Most local fabricators will know a source for annodizing
