J/30 Class, Thanks to John McArthur of Smiles, I have a number of original J/30 journals from the 1980s and 1990s. There is a wealth of information here about the J/30 Class. I am looking for a volunteer who would be able to scan these and put them in pdf files so we can post them on the J/30 Class site. As a second step, I would like to create a searchable index for these scanned journals. Please contact me if you are willing to help with this project.

Thanks to Jason King, we have some of the old J/30 Journals & Brochures now on the website. Here is the direct link to the new page we've created. It is also available by mousing over Info on the menu at the top, then click on J/30 Brochures & Journals. Additional J/30 Journals are being scanned and will be added when complete.

Thanks to Koos Louw, the J/30 Journals donated by John McArthur have been scanned and posted. Here is the direct link to the page also available by mousing over Info on the menu at the top, then click on J/30 Brochures & Journals. If anyone has other old journals to fill in the gaps, please let me know.

Now that the journals are posted, I'm looking for volunteers to read through them and create an index of articles. This would include for each journal:
Article Title, Author, Page Number
I'd also like to start collecting boat history information so that boats mentioned in the journal are noted. Not all the information is written, but whenever a boat is mentioned the following is captured for whatever data is available as information accurate at the time of that Journal: Boat Name, Hull Number, Sail Number, Owner, Picture (yes or no)
I'll include this with each journal posted. These tables could be done in Excel or Word.
If you want to take on reading a journal and create an index for that journal, please send me a reply or post here. This can be done by many people to spread the task.

Thanks to Dan Mather, two more journals have been scanned and added to the collection - November 1987 and January 1988. They are now included on the J/30 Journal Page.
