Kinesis is a couple hours drive away and I want to get as much material as I can together before I tackle a recoring project on the aft starboard quarter of the hull. How thick is the core on the J30? Thanks, Sam

although balsa is not my favorite for repair I do have in my repairs kit SB50 AL600/10 ~15mm which may be the right stuff. I like core cell.
here is a description of SB50

The deck and hull are 3/4 the cabin top is 3/8's. I brought my supply from Merton's fiberglass supply in MA.

This is great, thanks for all the replies, a big help. I can't wait to have the boat home in the yard next year, much easier!
I'm going to check with Hamilton Marine first as a source. I'm headed down to Salem on Thursday afternoon to open the side up. Excited and nervous. I'll take some pictures and try to post them.

I'm thinking its the bulkhead at the cockpit only that is 3/8ths.

and maybe the deck on the J24.

Everything's 3/4 on mine. I have personally "inspected" samples of everything. All is 3/4.

Except for the cabin floor. That's 3/8 or 1/4.

Corecell is an excellent replacement.

I opened it up last week and it is pretty ugly, but all cleaned up and almost ready for some new core. I'm trying to figure out what I need for fiberglass to make up the same thickness?
