Can he Skipper at NA???

So ok let me see if I have this right ... only owners can helm at NA ... but what if we have an owner's son who can helm? That's ex Belle Faster's junior skipper, soon to be driving Vee Jay 2, holding his team's cup, second year in row, but this year at the helm of a J29 ... Raritan YC Father's day with son races.

He has talent - but is he loyal to our class? He told me after the race that he likes J/29s better!

probably because he can see over the lower deck better ... he'll grow out of that 29 stuff when he starts bumping his head every time he goes below.

The young Mr. Lusty is a great helmsman who had an excellent start and then covered his opponents every move. Hats off to this two time winner of the RYC Father's Day race. I was on another J/29 which finished after Mad Cow and was calling faster and higher (in reference to William's driving skills) way too often. It's a good thing the elder Lusty does not give up the helm very often.... wink

Look. The child prodigy sails every day in summer. He has no shortage of tiller time. In the words of a former owner I used to crew for, "for the privilege of paying for everything, I get to steer the bloody thing".
