Anyone who has time, please create and account on http://raceqs.com/, search for Zephyr and find David Erwin. View last Wednesday's race and give us some tips on how to beat a Pearson Flyer in light air. Arethuza uses a .55 oz spinnaker material and advanced material main. We simply can't compete when the wind is light. Any advice is appreciated.

Don thanks, you commented on the Saturday race. Check out the Wednesday night race series 5 race 1 of 5. Set the boat to Zephyr vs. Arethusa. The Pearson Flyer was hitting 6 knots vs Zephyr's 5 knots. We did a 360 for hitting the mark. Check out relative boat speed and distance upwind on second leg after the completed our penalty turn.
This RaceQs is way cool. We downloaded the app, started tracking before the race and uploaded data when finished. It is very easy to use.

Looks like we beat the Pearson Flyer sailing with an advanced material main and .5 oz spinnaker last night. Zephyr used class legal sails. A replay is available on raceqs.com search for Zephyr select David Erwin then check out NOYC Wednesday Night Race Series 5 Race 2 of 5. Tell us what we did wrong upwind. We sailed a smarter course downwind.

Well... looks like your start wasn't up to Z boat standards. They were going 5.5 kts, while you were down to 3 or so. Which set you up for ducking 3 boats on your way to the right side of the course.
Doesn't seem like advanced materials had anything to do with their upwind prowess.
