I"m looking for about a 2' section of boom. If anyone has a broken boom they're willing to cut a piece off of, let me know.

Hi Tom,
I have a whole Boom. Are you looking to sleeve one?
I am north of Detroit. Shipping is a problem for a whole boom. I am very reluctant to cut it.

Hi Don,

Yes, looking to sleeve it at the Vang connection. I'd rather not have you cut up a good boom. I'll find another alternative.

Thanks!

Tom,

Check this old post for a possible solution.

Tom. The Rig Rite sleeve is a very good solution. I am very confident in my sleeved boom. It took some work to get to fit right. Then the Lancote applied and riveted in. Now I vang sheet all day without worry.
That's why I bought the spare boom and never used it. I sleeved my original instead. Good Luck

I'm considering reinforcing my boom with a 12" long piece of 2" aluminum angle iron. The thought is to drill holes for 1/4" or 5/16" bolts through the apex of the angle iron about 8" apart. Drill matching holes in the boom that straddle the vang. Put the bolts into the angle iron and with the legs facing down, slide the angle iron into the boom until the bolts come thru the boom. With the bolts tightened I would essentially have a triangular box inside the boom supporting the vang. Seems this would be stronger than a sleeve? Any thoughts on why this is a bad idea?

If you or anyone is interested in a boom.
Ted Kaperonis,, tkaper6862@aol.com, still has a boom that is for sale. I saw it last week and is looks to be good condition. It is a fully rigged white boom. I did not see any corrosion, dings, or forehead impressions.

Are you still looking for piece of boom? I have broken one sitting in garage. I could cut a piece and send. I did this vang reinforce project a few years ago.
