Forgive me if this has already been covered elsewhere, I'm unable to come up with anything when I search the forum. Does anyone have any experience with the Gori 2 blade folding prop? I know OEM Martec prop is 14x14, but what size Gori did you use? I only see a 14"x9.5 pitch. Will that work, or will the 2qm15 need to rev higher than usual? Other pitches are custom order and more expensive I suspect.

Also, does anyone know of a supplier for replacement prop shafts? mine is a little pitted at the stuffing box and I thought it would be a good time to do it when I change the prop and redo my bottom paint.

Thanks!

erik

I suspect the 9.5 pitch would be under powered and result in higher RPMs.

You can go to a local machine shop and have a new shaft cut and machined for the prop and flange key.

Consider going to a dripless seal rather than a stuffing box. It will eliminate the shaft wear problem. I had one on Rhapsody and it worked great.

BIll,

Thanks for the suggestions, it looks like the PSS dripless shaft seal can work on slightly worn or pitted shafts, so I should be able to just keep my old shaft for the time being. Pyacht was going to give me a great deal on the 9.5 pitch Gori, I was hoping not to have to line the shaft up for racing. I guess I'll stick with the Martec.

When I replaced my Martec prop earlier this year [2015] they were very helpful. I needed it ASAP and they could make me one and get it to me within my time frame.
They offered a reasonable discount too...
Which took some of the sting away! smile
