I am experiencing heavy vibration on when running the engine around 2000 rpms and up. The boat has always been a little rough but I am feeling it more this season. I noticed that the engine mounts in my boats different from some other builders. It seems like the engine is almost hard mounted to the engine bay. I am already going to pull the shaft this year to redo the cutlass bearing and repack the stuffing box, so my questions is has anyone replaced the engine mounts? Is it worth it to even bother or will things smooth enough after I redo everything, check the shaft, and realign?

P.S. I did notice some minor crazing around the exit for the shaft which makes me think I am out of alignment too.

When you replace the shaft after replacing the cutlass bearing, it would be a good time to make sure that you're engine is aligned. Once she is in the water, use a feeler gauge within the shaft coupler to make sure the tolerances are even all the way around. If not, crack the bolts on the mounts and carefully calibrate engine position until they are. This may help with vibration, when I bought my boat, replaced the bearing and checked for tolerance, I found my engine was quite aways from being properly aligned.
