AHOY,

yesterday in high-seas the port-side-aft portal was deep-sixed when a cabin denizen head-planted it. Is one available or do I need all four?

Cheers,

It didn't break ... so did it go overboard.

If it pops out generally the sealant is gone. so you have to reset them all anyway ... some were put in with 5200 which makes it more difficult and not recommended.

Generally we take the old fogged up ones and have them cut at a plastic supply house. The last set I did I think was under $20 each.

somewhere there is a thread lexan vs acrylic and a video of one of my 13 year old crew kids replacing them.

as i remember lefts are same, rights are same mirror images which only really applies depending on what protective skin they have on the plastic. I think I had them cut 2 and flip it to cut two.

going back 5 years or so here. silkaflex something that works with the exact plastic to bond.

It is really easy to make your own if you have a router and a pattern following bit. Use one of old port lights as the pattern. Then make sure to use a small round over bit to take the 90° off the side that gets mated to the hull.

What is the thickness of the polycarbonate/acrylic? Mine on #35 look like they've been replaced but they are recessed. I assume they should be flush. I already bought the black sikaflex 291 that should be the right stuff to stick to the window. The portals are about #78 on my to do list, but since you brought it up...

Just looked at the new material I have used to make the port lights and it is just under 1/4" with the protective paper still on and it matches what I removed (with the exception that you can see through the new stuff). The polycarbonate I used was easy to cut initially on the tablesaw and then finish with the pattern following router bit. The plastics place I bought the material from says they use routers almost exclusively to cut these materials, which kind of surprised me. I would have thought the router bits would tend to burn or melt the plastic.

I used safety tinted glass and love it. Seawater turns lexan and other plastic products cloudy. I called my local car auto business and asked for a list of people who do glasswork on the side. I took him a template. $75. As well you can contact Bill Smith to use the same fellow who cut the windows for Awesome. At the recommendation of my yard, Sintes Boat Works, I used black Silaflex on the inside and white on the outside. The black helped make a consistant blend with the dark tint while the white matched the external paint. The job cost about $100 total including glass and caulk. After several years - no leaks! Reference: http://www.silaflex.com/ Here is a photo of the back window. I'll try to find a better shot.
