We are looking to bid farewell to our 1982 J30. This boat has been part of our family since the beginning. For 20 years,
Sixes n Sevens sailed Long Island Sound, before spending the last 14 years on beautiful Lake Champlain. Work on the J30 during its time in Vermont includes:
- completely new electrical system (panel, wiring, components, etc.), installed by a licensed master electrician in 2003
- the bottom was stripped, the interior keel ribs were added, and an epoxy gel coat was completed
- a new mainsail was purchased in 2011 (very light use; no racing); other sails are original, including spinnaker and pole; 140% converted to roller furler
- all new Sunbrella cushion covers and new foam interiors by JSI were added in 2006 (very light use; still show as new)
- all new lifelines were added in 2013
- a new rudder by Rudder Craft was added in 2011
Sadly, while in storage during the winter of 2014-15, the hull below the starboard aft quarter split below the waterline, exposing the balsa core. Repairs are estimated at $8,000-$10,000 for proper repair and rebuilding.
Our J30 is listed at $3,900, but we will consider all offers. Photos can be viewed at:
