Will I take a penalty for using the asymmetrical sheave (approx. five feet higher than the forestay) for the symmetrical spinnaker?

You need to ask that question to your local PHRF rating body. They will need to know the dimensions of the Asym you plan on using and where you plan on attaching the tack.
