Hi gang! I can use a little help here. My J30 "Full Tilt" #212 suffered a complete dismasting due to a failed lower shroud at the thread going into the turnbuckle. We had eight people on board, and we are VERY thankful nobody was injured. The rig was lost.
Here's the issue: my insurance company wants a quote to replace the entire rig new, including all standing and running rigging. I contacted Rig-Rite for a quote, but they said this is their busy season and they won't get to it for weeks. We want to get back on the water asap, but the insurance adjuster is guessing they'll total the boat, as the costs for new replacement rig and other damage will exceed the insured value. If we can get any solid idea of what it costs, it would help immensely, as we already have a few other boats that we may be able to buy immediately.
Who here has replaced a complete NEW J30 rig? Any time in the last ten years is fine. If you did, would you contact me with the cost? I can use that to justify the settlement and we can get back out racing before the entire summer is over.
Feel free to contact me at futuredv@yahoo.com with any info. If you have a copy of the invoice, that would be great! (you can redact any personal information, of course) They would adjust for inflation I think. They just need SOMETHING that shows a number to satisfy the pencil pushers.
Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hey guys, thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I did call Jamie at the Yacht Shop in Halifax that Fitjaraid mentioned, and he was very helpful and even dug up the quote for the mast that they built in 2005, which I forwarded to the surveyor. It's like they say, Canadians are just the nicest people!
I got word today that the replacement value estimate will well exceed the insured value of $20K, so it looks like they'll total my boat and take possession of it soon. We're taking it on one last weekend for the cross-Long Island Sound race, where we'll be race committee (obviously, since we can't compete!) It will be bittersweet to give up Full Tilt after 20 awesome years with her.
The good news is there are some turn-key boats in our price range available right in my home port, so with a little luck, we'll have a boat soon and we'll be back racing in the Thursday around-the-buoys races! Possibly in a J30!
Thanks all! I'll update when we get our next boat.

FYI - Full Tilt has been taken by Cooper Capital Specialty Salvage and is currently open for bidding until 9/07. I no longer own the boat as I've already cashed the check from the insurance company, but I'm able to answer any questions if anyone is interested. Bidding starts at $1. Here's the link to the website. https://www.cooperss.com/asset-detail.php?name=marine&id=1345You can email me if you want at futuredv@yahoo.com I gotta say, it's sad to no longer own a boat, but after 25 years on the water, it's awesome when the yard sends me an $1800 bill for winter storage and I get to tell them I'm not interested! Plus, I raced on a friend's boat last night. Made enough friends over the years I'll always have a spot on a boat!
