Dear J/30 Fleet

As my wife and I prepare to spend August aboard Arbella cruising the coast of Maine, I have to report that we are putting her on the market after 20 wonderful years racing and cruising. Arbella is in fine condition and has competed well in class events and local racing, but there comes a time, and when I turned 80 in June, I decided I must sell her.

She has new racing sails used only in the NAs a couple of years ago, a good set of cruising sails including main with two reefs, a new autopilot, a good roller fuller, the full galley layout, a carbon spinnaker pole, a windward sheeting traveller, a great coarse and fine tune main sheet, new upholstery and much more. She was built in 1984 and met all my expectations. If anyone wants to see her, she will be in the water for awhile.

She was not inexpensive when I bought her, but I recognize that prices are low right now, and I would accept an offer of $15,900 for the boat and all her equipment.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill-

So sorry to hear that you will no longer be sailing with us! You were a worthy adversary and a great part of the fleet. I posted info about your boat on my local club discussion group in hopes that we can add your boat to our fleet down here in NJ-I will let you know if anyone expresses interest.

Enjoy your time in Maine-we just got back from an excellent vacation down east a few days ago.

Hi Steve -

Good to hear from you. Thanks for the kind words. Sorry I have not had another go at you recently. Arbella is in good shape - with many extras. She has been cruised extensively and raced very competitively. J
At this moment Tinker and I are approaching Pulpit Harbor on our way east.
I plan to let people at home know that the boat is for sale, but I don't have a prospective buyer there yet. If there is someone who would like her down there, I would be happy to see her go in your direction. Maybe I could deliver her myself!

I have an attic full of sails. When my knees and hips were really hurting, I put a roller furler on the boat, but I still have the old headstay and pvc foil.

The cabin table is totally functional. The Yanmar 2 GM runs well. I built a very neat swinging gps bracket for the companionway. The bottom is faired, and the paint is excellent. The head is relatively new and trouble free. In short I think the price is too low, but the market for old Fiberglas boats is very soft.

Thanks for helping to spread the word.

Bill
