So my spin pole end decided to shear in two last wednesday while racing home on the downwind leg. 15 kts of wind with the heavy wind chute up and BANG, the pole goes shooting across the deck. Tied it back to the ring in a hurry and was still able to reach the finish first in our class but what the hell man? What's worse, we have a 2 7/8" pole for which I can't find a replacement other than through rig rite. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Josh

Sounds like the right time for a carbon pole with ends that don't weigh 10lbs each!

Our poles are tree trunks; even if you don't want to go carbon, it is probably worth ordering new light ends and getting an aluminum tube to fit. The aluminum tube is the cheap part.

Natural High beat me to it! Time to buy a carbon pole-so much easier to handle, and so much less weight on the nose...

I may have the end to that pole (would need to measure). I've got 2 spinnaker poles and am planning on ditching them.

I have a complete class legal original Kenyon aluminum pole available. One end is a bit lazy. Located in Rockledge FL

I also have a PHRF legal aluminum rodeo pole available.

Like others have mentioned I went with a carbon pole and haven't looked back.

My class legal spinnaker pole was sold today. I still have the PHRF non-penalty pole (11.5') for sale.
