1981 J-30 FOR SALE “RHAPSODY IN BLUE” After owning this gorgeous J-30 sailboat which we christened “Rhapsody in Blue” for 17 years my wife and I have decided to sell. She has been mostly day sailed, occasionally cruised and was only raced sporadically at low level club races. We especially enjoyed the comforts of her at our scenic mooring where we enjoyed many a sunset, enjoyed lots of wonderful meals while listening to music in its beautiful cabin and retiring to the berth getting lulled to sleep by the gentle rocking and splashing of the surf. As acclaimed, the J-30 is a wonderfully versatile 30- foot sailboat, with a responsive tiller making for quick and comfortable maneuverability. This is truly an adept racer and cruiser. The J-30 has very pretty lines and a beautiful multi- blue exterior, hence her name Rhapsody in Blue. The deck is beamy and open with unobscured views from the cockpit. She has, in our opinion, the prettiest and richest looking cabin of any 30 foot sailboat. It is truly spacious with elegant curves, rich mahogany and ash paneling and a wonderful dining table complimented with a teak and holly cabin sole. She has always been well maintained and cared for. The Yanmar diesel is in excellent condition and the boat overall is in good condition. Rhapsody in Blue is a top of the line J-30 as the original owner opted for virtually every factory option available - multi-colored blue hull, shore power, and wood paneling in the v-berth. Since we bought her, we have added many extras not standard on other J-30s. ! Slides to North mainsail for ease of raising. ! Full battens to the main sail for better shape, durability and ease in lowering. ! 105% roller furling Dacron Doyle jib (2022) with radial cut panels. ! North asymmetrical spinnaker with dousing sleave in addition to standard symmetrical spinnaker and standard spinnaker pole. ! Replaced standard jib winches with self- tailing Lewmar winches. ! Large 7-inch Garmin GPS on swing out mount with Sirius weather radar. ! Raymarine S-60 wind and depth instruments. ! Raymarine tiller autopilot. ! Replaced original alcohol stove with a very efficient Oriega two burner alcohol stove. Rhapsody in Blue is a great boat for both a first-time sailor on up to a seasoned racer. She is available for inspection at our mooring at the Old Greenwich Yacht Club in Old Greenwich, CT. Please contact George Toper for more details and to arrange a tour. Asking $11,500.
