Hi friends, I just picked up a 1980 J/30 on Lake Norman, NC. Her name is Syzygy. Has good batteries and the engine fires up and runs smooth. My questions is about the electrical panel that controls interior lights, extrior lights, VHF, ext. The owner tells me everything works but he no longer lives at the lake. I see the shore power switch but no other breaker that would allow the other power to come on. Am I missing something? Thanks for your help!

Just wanted to give an update that it was in fact the inline fuse behind the main switch. Power is on in the boat and most of the electronics work, listened to some Neil Dimond on cassett. Now the journey of replacing old parts continues.

Side note, does anyone know the rating on that fuse? I'm going to splice in a replacement but I don't see any markings present.

Short answer is a 30 amp fuse at battery selector lead to the electrical panel.

Long and helpful thread from Rhapsody on panel replacement including many diagrams: DC Electrical Panel Replacement
