I have owned a J-30 for the past 20 years, and last year I had ice damge to the bottom as a result of water in the balsa core. I have bben advised that this may be a common problem resulting from an inadequate seal between the exhaust pipe and the hull. If anyone has had this type of damage I would appreciate knowing what was done to correct the problem. ThANKS IN ADVANCE.

We had a similar problem with a leak around the exhaust. We had a pro do the repair, which involved removing and replacing the balsa core on about the bottom 12 inches of the transom and probably about 2-3 sq feet of the bottom where the water had run down the transom and into the core on the bottom.
