I have a 1979 J/30, hull number 214 with a heat exchange system. The outside water pump needs replacing. The current pump is a Johnson Pump model "10-*******J8-5E" where the * means unreadable and the 'J' is a maybe. Does anyone have a similar system and can identify the model number?

Perhaps your pump is a 10-35038-5E. See: http://www.pumpagents.com/JohnsonPumps/Rubber_Impeller_Pumps.html
They list the Johnson 10-35038-5E pump for $115 and the service kit for $26.
