Hey, me again. I'm looking for some input on tiller extentions for racing my 30. Straight stick, asymetrical, etc. Any comments and or ideas (been there done thats) would be greatly appreciated. Drove in my first race last weekend and found out that an extrention is needed.

We've been very happy with the spinnlock asymetric. Our boat came with a basic dinghy style extension that ended in simple grip with a ball on the end. In heavy air, it wasn't much fun since there was no way to get both hands on the extension, and it wasn't easy to switch hands. I don't always want two hands, but when it blows, or we're on a pole on the headstay spinn reach, the ability to comfortably get both hands on the extension is a huge win.

I prefer an extension with a handle not just a stick, which helps in loaded up reaching conditions when you need two hands. We've used a old style non adjustable extension that has a "StaFast" fitting at the universal. It gives a firm feel like a rubber universal and stays where you put it. The closest match I could find might be overkill try Forespar.com Ocean Racer model.
I have used the forespar ocean racer, think it was a few years old and hated the universal. It bound up when tacking if you where careful. Just replaced with a spinlock asymetrical. Love it.
Just replaced the Forespar Ocean Racer that had been on the boat, for a Spinlock Asymetric this season and couldn't be happier. Like havin' a Nardi steering wheel for your boat.
