1. Does anybody know where I can source the teak handrails inside and out - four in total for my 1979 Hull #126 J30?

2. I am also looking to find chain plates, the whole set.

Thanks
Mark

I think that chain plates can be ordered via Muller Marine in Annopolis, MD. If he doesn't have them, he can tell you where to get em!

West marine sells teak hand rails. I don't know if they line up with the exhisting mounting holes or not though. Worst case if you have one of the originals you can make one very easily. If you don't know any one or don't want to do it yourself, most custom cabinet shops will do things like that if you talk to them nicely.

The teak rails from West or Defender don't
match the holes. The loop length on the originals are non standard length.
You'll need them made to order.

Why do you need to buy new ones? Are the original ones missing, or broken. Otherwise, couldn't you re-use your existing rails. I assume you have the original wood rails, but they're leaking like mine, or broken.

If your rails are broken, you could buy two teak pieces of wood and use the old rails as a pattern to cut the new ones. Use a band saw for the rough cut, and a sander to finish off the edges.

Drill holes in the rails to match deck holes, and caulk with polysulfide (Do NOT use silicon - silicone is useless on a boat except maybe as a temporary fix at port lights).

Who is the supplier for the stainless handholds? We've been trying to find out for 2 years now. They were posted on the forum two versions back but no-one seems to remember where to get them. Help...

The two bladed Martec 203780 Right Hand 14 x 14 Prop is the only one approved for class racing.

If you find you will not be racing one-design, your options open up. Max-prop makes a feathering propeller that works just as well in reverse as forward. Its significantly more expensive though.
