We're going to have a meeting soon for the Southern New England Fleet for elections and start to organize the 2008 North Americans. Just reading the by-laws in Section III. I want to confirm my reading that the "Fleet officers shall consist, at a minimum, of the following. A. Fleet Captain B. Fleet Measurer"
Does this refer to the District as a fleet, or the National as the "Fleet"? (e.g. each district has a Fleet Captain & Measurer, or the Fleet Captain & Measurer are at the National level.)

The organizational hierarchy is: Class, District, Fleet. There are natural fleets in LI Sound (Cedar Point, Raritan) and Chesapeake (Annapolis, West River, Hampton). However these like most Districts have never developed independent fleets within their geographic region either by club or area. As a result the District and Fleet become somewhat interchangeable. As a practical matter there is usually a Fleet Captain (who acts as District Governor) and a Fleet Measurer.
My recollection is there is a Narragansett Bay Fleet that is essentially acts as the Southern New England District.

Thanks Bob. When we hold the meeting, we'll invite from "Chatham, MA to & including Mystic, CT" per the by-laws so we include the right people. I wanted to make sure since the NAs are up here next year that we have an "official" measurer in place, and meet the requirements of the by-laws. We'll make the Fleet Measurer happen at the meeting too so we'll be ready for next year.
