I think your best bet would be to check down in Annapolis-more 30's usually on the market down there than up here. Where are you looking to sail? I'm in NJ, and my club now has two competitive J30's and I'm always trying to bring more into the club.
I am in NYC. I will either keep the boat in Jersey City or Sheepshead bay.

Also check out City Island in the Bronx. Its just off the end of the 6 train and there are direct buses from Manhattan. We have a few J-30's racing regularly and decent Wednesday night racing. Easy access to the rest of Long Island Sound.

As I'm sure you did, check out the "For Sale' page on the J/30 Class website. Also look on SailingSource.com. there are 12 or so 30's listed in various areas on the east coast.
