Hi,
does anyone know the length of the engine stop cable? I removed my from the boat to bring to the dealer for replacement and can't find it now... Thanks a lot.

The shut off cable is a standard Yanmar Cable. They can be purchase at any Yanmar Dealer.

Length isn't critical. Just that it is long enough. Mine has lots of slack. You can estimate it with a tape measure, line, etc.
Good luck.

I just bought one two weeks ago from a Yanmar distributer, it was only $24. It's amazing how easy it is to pull. I was used to having to grit my teeth and grab with both hands.

So how long is it? Mine currently terminates in the port lazerette. There is a hole near the instrument panel with a bolt in it I assume the cable was originally routed to. Is this correct? It seems to make more sense that upending who ever might be sitting on the port side of the cockpit to shut off the engine!

I didn't measure it, I just told them it was for a J/30 and it fit fine with a little slack. The hole on the port side of your engine instrument panel is where the kill knob comes out. I can't imagine why someone would put that in the lazerette unless they bought a cable that was too short.

Port lazerette, that's where mine is, original from the factory.

Likewise on hull 3. The stop cable lead into the back wall of the starboard locker. For that matter, I also pulled out an ancient engine
start switch from there as well.
