Thanks that's what I needed to know. Since we have yet another snow day. I'll remove the floor today. These snow days are eating up good June sailing days Originally posted by Scott: The floor itself has 3/8 balsa in the sandwich. I've replaced this myself when the floor became very spongy.
The vermiculite is in spots between the floor and the hull. The floor sits on top of the vermiculite. It looks like its there to support the floor.
