So here it is. An updated J/30 from J/Boats.
http://www.J/Boats.com/j97/j97intro.htm

A little longer but the same message as in 1979. I bet it will be a bit more expensive than our beloved J/30's though.

Looks like it has a tiller too in the picture. Cool sprit, fractional rig with masthead kite. I'd love to see the specs, but they're not posted yet.

I wonder if the exhaust will be isolated from the core? Maybe not an issue if they go the SCRIMP route..

We'll have to ask Rod Johnstone about it at the NAs. He'll be joining us to make the daily presentations on Friday night.

Wow. That fills a big gap at the lower end of the J/Boat product line. The closest boat with a similar cruising interior is the J/109, which is WAY expensive. I don't count the J/100 because it's more of a day sailor with limited headroom and it lacks a proper galley. I wonder what the base price of the J/97 will be.

David,

How did you run across that link? J/Boats does not have it up anywhere on their site that I could see. It's pretty much a blind link at this point.

There is a thread on it in Sailing Anarchy.

Ok - so not firm pricing but...

I just got the J/Boat order form and it has it listed as J/95. Starting price of 145k.

Asym package is +4400

So 150k.

Draft is a foot longer.
Aft head, sprit, no secondaries, cool bow pulpit, reverse counter transom, and love the beneteau type look of the bow.

I bet the core is friggin sealed from all through hulls and hardware too.

Now I just have to wait 30 years till I can afford one.

I wonder why they wouldn't even reference or refer to the J/30 anywhere?

That sounds about right... about 15% to 20% more than boats of similar size/class in other brands.

It better be for $150 large. If only they did that 30 years ago...
