I see the new class rules are up as of 7.1.04. Thanks for that.

Regarding cloth rules, I thought I saw Airx600 was approved for our use. However, now I do not see that, and here is the offical ruling:

5.6 Spinnaker

.1 Minimum cloth weight is 0.75 oz. nominal and 0.9 oz. actual weight. Spinnakers must be made of nylon.

*****
No mention of Airx 600. Please advise whether Airx is legal and which weight is approved. Thank you.

This is a complex issue because various cloth manufacturers calculate cloth weight differently. I reviewed this issue about 2 years ago and went so far as studing the data from several production runs of Airex cloth. As a result of that study and consultation with Airex we approved Airex 700 and 650 for use in J30 spinnakers. However, Airex 600 is not heavy enough to meet the current J30 specifications.
