J/Port Announces Rendezvous 2000

J/Port is excited at the prospect of the largest gathering of owners, their families & friends and of course their J/Boats, on the Bay this coming June 22 - July 1.

Rendezvous 2000 will bring cruisers & racers together for a week of sailing, socializing and J/Boat "education" in the extraordinary setting of the historic, Chesapeake Bay.

The itinerary will include both long distance and buoy races, cruises to the Eastern Shore and a visit to Baltimore's Inner Harbor. For those of you who can not participate in the entire week of exploring, a long weekend itinerary has been designed with you in mind.

The itinerary will have a comfortable mix of evening get-togethers and "free" evenings. Most days will have a race scheduled between anchorages, the sign-up for these events can be done in advance or within a reasonable time frame prior to the following day's race.

Additional notices will be posted on our website (http://www.jportannapolis.com) in the next couple of weeks. The itinerary will be completed and posted with a list of day & evening events as they are confirmed. Pricing for the individual activities will be sent with the initial mailing.

Please email Linda Ambrose (linda@jportannapolis.com) with any questions. We would like to begin a list of interested owners as soon as possible so check your calendar and let us know if you'll be able to join us in this exciting, new event.

LET'S MAKE THIS FIRST ANNUAL RENDEZVOUS A ROUSING SUCCESS. JOIN US!

Are any J-30s thinking about participation in the J-Rendezvous? I would like to suggest that if we participate, we consider some ways to make the races more appropriate for cruising crews of 2 to 4 people. Among these could be a no-spinnaker rule, a small jib only rule, a rule limiting the crew to 4 people, a rule permitting the limited use of the engine in light air, etc. Please give your reaction and your guess as to how much, if any, of the rendezvous you would participate in.

Ready to have some fun?? Join the Rendezvous 2000

The Rendezvous Mailing is out - we're ready for you to join in the Fun! We'll give you a handicap (adjusted accordingly, of course) so everyone can enjoy the trip. Consider this casual fun, or take it as seriously as you want to but either way, join us for a great adventure on the Bay. We do expect that most participants will be with family and for the racing to be LOW KEY!
