A SAD PARTING (and even sadder PARTING-OUT) We were recently forced to scrap our 1979 boat. Before doing so we removed everything of value. Contact me for any parts you might need to improve the value of your own boat. The engine, rudder, mast & boom are sold, but everything else is available, including deck hardware, pulpits, interior parts and rigging. Ask about anything else of interest.

2006 Harken MK IV furler. Complete with new wire headstay. Located in Chicago. $1,500.

Alan indicated the following additional parts were available as of 18 June 2009 (contact him to check for other stuff): Boom, (mast was sold), stern pulpit, deck hardware, winches (not self tailing), engine cover/stairs, loose internal stuff (sliding locker covers, liquor locker and sink door, etc), table

Contact: Alan Veenstra email Alan@chicagosailing.com or call 773.791.7923 or 773.252.3700

Curious if your front hatch is in good shape, I recently broke off a nice bomar front hatch with the spinnaker and am looking to replace. Thanks for the thread!

Larry,

I think that boat is no longer. There is a vid of it getting crunched at recycling shop in Chicago.

Update as of 5 May 2010

I have a few parts remaining from the demolition of our J/30. Here is a partial list of equipment that hopefully brings new life from old.
  • Lots of deck original hardware, including chainplates, anchor locker cover, tracks, cars, padeyes, etc.
  • Electrical panels, lights, etc.
  • A few Barient #10 and #16 winches (no two-speeds or self-tailers).
  • Engine cover
  • Table
  • Stern pulpit, stanchions w/gates
  • Some interior cabinetry
  • Full set of beige cushions that are fundamentally sound, but with numerous significant stains (would need to be died to a darker color).
  • Water tank
  • Standard marine toilet
  • Original running rigging items (note: we can accommodate your new rigging needs too)
  • 2006 Harken MK IV Furler. Complete with new wire headstay. Located in Chicago. $1,500. Call for details
Let me know what you might need that is not shown here. I may be able to accommodate you.
