Luke - would you be open to getting quotes from other sail makers for this too? What I'd like to do is send a message to both North Sails and Quantum, since they provided money to the J/30 Class as sponsors for the 2008 North American championship. I'd like to provide an opportunity for businesses that support our class.
I bought a new blade last year so won't be in the market for one - for the next 20 years.

North Sails would also like to make a group offer if the intrest was there. The key to getting the best bottom line cost to each individual is the total number of sails ordered, which is where the economy works for us and you. Contact your North rep for a description...both 3DL and paneled versions are offered.

Larry Leonard, who I believe was the orignal founder of Quantum. If anyone can arrange a group discount from North and get a little something of my order I am all in favor !

I think in this economy (almost)everyone is willing to make a "deal".... to quote Dave Ullman, "there should not be more than about a 10% difference among lofts for a non custom (read OD J30) sail." I had a quote for a new spinnaker once, and when he checked the price he couldn't even buy the cloth for what I was paying... he said if I was comfortable with the sailmaker (ie, check that the cloth was not flawed, seconds, offshore, made in China, etc) to buy it because even with our "friends and family discount" he could not make that sail for me at that price. Just depends on whether you feel the sails will mesh with what you've got...and how responsive your sailmaker is. My criteria this year was not just price, but someone who would come tune the sails to the boat, boat to the sails. Make sure I'm getting what I paid for... to go as fast as possible. This was a normal part of the "sale of sails" in California. I don't see it as much on the east coast, however, Doyle Annapolis will be joining us for ROLEX St Thomas and BVI Spring Regatta in that tradition... I just hope the wind drops down below 25kts so I can see more than the new #3...
