I was searching the forum for info on teak mounting blocks for running lights and saw your post. Do you have a source for these? Did you make your own, and if you did would you share some tips? Thanks, Rocket J #524

I made my own. Went to the local lumber yard and got them to cut me two 3"x8" pieces of 1" teak. I used the old pieces as a template and cut the slant with a hand saw. I dry fitted them on the pulpit and marked the location to pre-drill the mounting screw holes. Rounded the edges in the sanding stage, cleaned with Interlux thinner 216 (nasty, nasty, stuff BTW) and applied three coats of Cetol. I applied the first coat with a natural bristle brush but ended up applying the next two coats with foam brushes. The thinner is just too nasty to clean the brush with. Even with a VO mask I did not think it was worth it to expose myself and my neighbours to the Xylene fumes.

The finished product is a little less round than the original. But I don't have a router and did not feel like messing about rounding the ends with a hand saw. Generally I am pleased with the result.

Congrats Dominique. I'm a few steps behind you and hope to get the topside stuff completed after work this week. The bottom and hull waxing is all done (still need to sand and buff new gelcoat on transom). I've also got all my stanchions to rebed with the new backing plates and spacers under the stanchions.

Thanks Bill, though t sounds like you've bitten off alot more than I have. That said, having completed this task gives me confidence to do more.
