Bob, the winning bidder was from Canada, very nice, but cost was to hight to transport and do repairs. (the were hiring out all work to be done at a full Marina in Canada) Yes, the owner is open to offers. Not sure if going to relist on EBAY. I have many very interested people coming here to see the boat this weekend. As you can see in the pictures, the owner had the bottom finished, all gouges, chips and fairing done back to original. All fitting are now smooth for racing back to its form. We only applied 1 thin coat of bottom paint to cover for now. New buyer can sand easily and install their own system.
If you or anyone else is interested in looking at this boat, please do reply and I will email you more pictures. The boat is scheduled to be surveyed by 2 different potential buyers this weekend.

Boat Boy (or anybody else who knows) The ad on eBay and here does not list inventory nor show mast or rigging. Two years ago in November I purchased a J/27 from Mystic Conneticut and transported to Canada. It had some issues (wet deck) and required work. http://users.eastlink.ca/~mhoytI did this because the broker detailed all of the known problems and I took them into consideration when making an offer. What is inventory? Is it seriously just the two sails? That would deduct probably 10,000 from the boats value! Is the rigging in sound condition? Instruments - what are they and do they all work. Repairs. Please list them Cradle. There is no trailer. Is there a cradle? (another $1400 to have one built). For others. Locally we have large one design J/29 fleet. Mostly fractional boats. Is the mast and all sail size the same? Will J/29 sails fit the J/30 with minor modifications? Thanks Mike J27 #150 Nut Case

I would like to update the progress of the 1982 J30 #385 listed for sale here on this site. I have a contract with new owner (marine dealer here in CT) who bid on boat because he could not believe it was still available for sale at $6000. The dealer sent his surveyor here before auction closed and confirmed the condition report I provided. The dealer has contracted me to keep the boat at my location for the winter season. The dealer in turn will finish up a few repairs, secure boat for winter, and relist for sale himself. I will forward all my contacts from anyone who had interest in the #385 J30. I must be honest about my experience selling this boat. I have heard comments from "the boat is junk, I'll pay you the scrap value of $2K...to "the boat needs at least $15K in repairs just to get in water"...to the "entire deck needs to be replaced at cost over $12K"...to "the boat just needs some love and it would make a great sailer"...and finaly to "I can't beleive it only sold for $6000....I would have made you much better offer!" There are many more statements I left out.
Some have been here to see boat in person, most have not. 3 different surveyors have reported the honest condition of this boat to be in good overall condition with mostly cosmedic work needed, along with the usual rigging and equipment repairs. I have spoke with at least 50 interested people about this boat, answering every question I could, along with providing the direct number of the survey company. The most serious have been from across the country, which the hauling cost has detered most. I am at a loss at this point in time. But I do understand one thing. Everyone has an opinion and I respect that 100%.
So in closing, for the record, this 1982 J30 #385 is for sale at Affordable Marine Boat Sales, 86 East Main St, Plainville CT 06062 and can be seen by apointment anytime in the future. The engine has been winterized and this week the boat will be cleaned, covered and relisted for sale.
Happy Holidays and good health to all!
