two november regattas so far this season where two different S2 7.9 boats are killing a wavelength 30, dehler 34 and Vee Jay.

first regatta in light wind, second in medium ... both had the S2 over the finish first uncorrected.

anyone else have or had a problem with the S2 7.9???

Vic - same with a 9.1 here in Newport. You'll find Epiphany to be good competition next year. I had lunch with Jeff today. He just bought a new high tech main from Doyle to add to his arsenal.

Yup. The S2 7.9 sails very well to it's rating. Untouchable when we were racing against it in a C&C 30. Luckily for me, my club has it in a different PHRF division than my J/30.

We've got two 9.1's at my club-one puts up a fight, the other...not so much. A good S-2 9.1 (won their division at Block Island RW) came down from LIS this year to race with us, and they ended up 4th behind us, a Santana 3030, and an Olson 911. The only times I've shared the line with a 7.9, they were not in the hunt in any race (no idea if they sailed the boat well or not...not close enough to tell :-).

The two 7.9s Vee Jay sailed against this season are out of the SWFL OD fleet and both of them (different one in each regatta) finished nearly half the races in front of the Spin B fleet uncorrected.

Compared to the 9.1-- the 7.9 looks misleadingly non competitive. the 9.1 looks better than it performs with it double spreader and all. 7.9 looks more like a trailer/cruise boat with surprisingly decent performance.

A 9.1 in a Marco race last season did badly on Saturday, crew decided not to drink Sat night ... and they cleaned up on Sunday.

We have a 9.1 at CPYC that has been rated even with J/30's by YRALIS. It has a way of making a nuisance of itself on a regular basis.
