So OK ... I had serious doubts Vee Jay NPT was going to be able to pull together a competitive crew in two months to be able to race NA MID SUMMER. I have 630 lbs of crew (4) now ... including our crew MD committed. Yes, the Vee Jays have a crew MD -- currently on a delivery from Tahiti to Honolulu. She is very good with stitches and splints after 15 years in ER.

With our crew level in mind, I am putting out this request for proposals (after looking at the list of boats participating -- mostly locals) and wondering if there is a Half team (770 lbs worth) out there, with some time working together, who would like to join Vee Jay NPT for the NA.

I have a North kevlar #1 scheduled to deliver early July as well as a Radian main ... perhaps a bit heavy for light wind Marblehead, but better for Vee Jay in Naples where we have been racing in 20-30s over the last couple of years.

Bill has mentioned that with a note from my MD ... I will be able to have an alternate driver at least for some of the time -- which is good for a guy with arthritis. Foredeck and tactics will be helpful.

UPDATE: I am finding that there are J30 crew who have moved from their previous homes and are too shy to contact local J30 boats .... REMEMBER ALMOST ALL J30 BOATS ALWAYS ARE LOOKING FOR CREW ... who have any hint of what a J30 is all about. My leads are coming from skippers who have lost crew due to crew member relocation. No need for J30 pros to look for some other boat to race ... J30s have openings now.

Still have an open 400 lbs for NAs in Marblehead ...
