I see the PH3593A on the Fram Website. This is for the 2GM. I haven't played with the 2QM so don't know if it is compatible. The Yanmar 2QM oil filter part number is 119305-35151 or 124085-35113

You are correct Bill. At first I tried to manually search the Fram PH3593A on the Fram website and got a message that the part # no longer existed. However when I manually went through the Fram website I did find the Fram PH3593A listed as the OEM replacement for the GM15.

It would appear that the Fram PH3593A is NOT compatible with the QM15 as the listed filter for this motor is Fram PH5046. I am going to try and track one down today locally…..

I'll look up my filter for the 2QM15 at lunch today.

I just use standard heavy duty diesel engine oil. Pennzoil. I think I put in 20W last time as our PNW waters are not very warm.

On a related note, what oil pressure does your engine run at after it is thoroughly warmed up?

Hot-tip: Home Hardware has a drill-pump for $10 that drains my crankcase in about 30 seconds.
Hot-tip Plus: the 2QM15 installation has enough room to install a drain plug in the pan for easy oil changes. I plan to do this (someday).

I found my oil change kit. I've been using Mobile 1 0W 20 since 2001. 6 seasons in the water with that oil only changed twice.

Important note: I sail on an inland lake. I doubt if I've had the engine running more than 30 minutes at a time at anything over an idle that whole time.

I'm going to try to start it this afternoon. Wish me luck, it's been almost 4 years! I'll check to see what oil filter I have on it.

The Fram filter for 2QM15 is indeed PH3493A.

I have been getting enough hours that I need to change the oil every couple months. 2 changes since October.

WD-40 makes a safer starting fluid. Don't be suprised if you have to bleed the injector system. A drill pump works ok if ytou completly warm up the oil and filter (check side of oil pan) first.

That is good to know...thx....I managed to track down a TG3493A locally....Fram now offers up to four different levels of filter in many sizes....PH, TG, XG and HM.

Wal-Mart had the TH3493A for $ 6 and Canandian Tire had the HM3493A for $ 11
