#10 flat head screws measured so only about 1/4 in is inside mast ... they don't really line up with ropes inside the mast i'm thinking ... we do now use the Harken 438 adapter plate. I did a couple last week and was pissed off to find the original installed one was done with #12 screws and a couple of plastic wedges... and zonked in with 5200 and bent. why anyone would use a couple of #12s to anchor a spin in the winds that J30 nuts like to fly spin is beyond me.
fortunately the #10 tap worked perfectly in the taped #12 hole.
