The Lewmar 40ST has been added to the approved list for primary winches

I don't see a Lewmar 44ST winch listed on the manufacturer's website. Did you mean the Lewmar evo45ST?

with all the new models that have been introduced I will update the list The evo 45 will probably fall in with it

Re: Winches - 12/17/11 04:11 PM

the Lewmar 40ST would be a replacement for the secondary and not the primary winches, if considering Lewmar: the hole pattern for the Lewmar EVO 45ST does not match the Barient25; the "Fast Fit" idea was never implemented, no studs supplied. Winches are mounted in the conventional manner.

The 40's are not approved for use as a secondary they are two large Power ratio's are to high

No consideration on Andersons?

Binnacle.ca is having a smoking sale right now beinging the price down to the same as the aluminum Harkens and Lewmars

Re: Winches - 06/15/12 01:03 PM

I see no reason why we Anderson's can't be approved and added to the list as long as they are in the same power ratio area as the Lemars and Harkins

let me know which one you are looking at and I will review

I did put a new pair of the Harkin 40.25 Self tailers on this year and the crew love them tons of power

Re: Winches - 06/15/12 09:47 PM

Anderson 40ST is I think the most comparable. There is standard, standart self tailing, and full stainless self tailing.

Re: Winches - 03/17/17 11:27 AM

Hi all,

I'd like to replace my primary winches. Anyone know if there is an updated list of approved winches? I'm considering the lewmar evo 40ST. The last list I've been able to find is from 2011.

Thanks,

An updated list of approved winches is attached. The goal is to keep the power ratio's and weight as close as possible to the original Barient winches. Both Lewmar and Harken have changed some of their model numbers but haven't made significant changes in the winches. Alloy, chrome, and stainless are permitted. There was a company in Australia making parts for the Barients. Will try to find a link and post it. Larry Christy Measurerer

Hi Larry,

Thanks for updating the list.

The Australian company with Barient parts is hutton: http://huttonwinches.com. I was able to get a gear I needed for my barient from them.

Martec Mark III folding prop
Martec has discontinued manufacture of the prop since April1, 2017. I contacted Gary Beck, owner, today to order a new prop. He will build me one with new and used parts but will soon not even have that option.

He also told me that most of the folding props now use a 1" shaft which my boat has but do not make props for 3/4" shafts.

We need to find a new prop for both 3/4" and 1" shafts!

Can anyone tell me what length bolts I need for the primary winches?

Thanks
